CASTE: THE ORIGINS OF OUR DISCONTENTS. I’ve been looking forward to Isabel Wilkerson’s new book since reading an excerpt in the New York Times a few weeks ago. She is a masterful storyteller, and her revelations about caste in America, India, and Nazi Germany and their connections are sure to be thought-provoking and timely.

I just finished Susan Wiggs’ wonderful novel THE LOST AND FOUND BOOKSHOP. Interesting characters, an intriguing setting, some history, a mystery, and a little romance. What a pleasure!

Discovering a new voice is always exciting. I found THIS IS ONE WAY TO DANCE on the list “For the Writer & Reader.” Sejal Shah’s essays explore her immigrant heritage and the ways that she identifies herself. Reviewers call it “bold and brave,” “a sensitive, poignant collection.”

INDIAN NO MORE, on our “Children’s Fiction” list, won the 2020 American Indian Youth Literature Award for Middle Grade Fiction. Regina and her family move to Los Angeles from their Oregon reservation when the government declares that her tribe, the Umpqua, no longer exists. Based on author Charlene Willing McManis’ experiences in the ‘50s, this is a moving account of a child trying to find who she is in a new world.
