The
Mustang Heritage Foundation (MHF) Veterans & Mustangs Program is an equine exerpiential opportunity aimed at helping active duty military, veterans, and first-responders heal. The program uses the benefits and power of the wild American Mustang to provide a platform for change.

Equine Trainer Katie Ketterhagen Veteran Participant Dale Lackey
With the help of the MHF, military veterans choose a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) mustang untouched humans, and transform the horse in approximately 30 days into a gentled, adoptable equine companion while learning hands-on care. Participants also learn hands-on farm management, equine husbandry, basic veterinary care, and equine behavior/psychology. The program takes place at MHF in Georgetown, Texas 5 days a week for approximately 30 days. After completion of the program, the mustangs are available for adoption by the participant or placed into private care.
