DORIS DALEY & AL DOC MEHL FEATURED GUESTS ON CAMPFIRE CAFE
Every cowboy poet should have a textured path, and guest DORIS DALEY, comes from a gene pool that includes ranchers, cowboys, Mountie, Irish stowaways, liars, good cooks, and saskatoon pickers. Born and raised on a family ranch in the foothills of Alberta, her sparkling poetry has taken her to events of all sizes across the West. With her signature cowboy hat, wide beaming smile, and ever present twinkle in her eye, this Alberta based wordsmith knows how to make us laugh, remember, ponder, wonder, and determine to seize each day, just as she does.

AL “DOC” MEHL, is recently transplanted from Colorado to Black Diamond, Alberta. With one foot in the past and one in the present, Doc weaves the history and the mystery of the West into his original “west-clectic” poetry and music.  His poems and musical lyrics have been featured on the website cowboypoetry.com, and his poems have been published in “Rattle” magazine.  Doc Mehl’s spoken-word recording “The Great Divide” was named “Cowboy Poetry CD of the Year” by both the Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists.  In the words of songwriter Jon Chandler, “Listening to Doc is like having Lyle Lovett in one ear… and Tommy Smothers in the other!”
