A seventh-generation Coloradian, JON CHANDLER’S music and stories reflect his heritage, and his eight CDs, two novels, two non-fiction works and myriad short stories and nonfiction articles are collected by western lifestyle aficionados worldwide. Chandler writes and sings of the historic and contemporary West. He's been called the "best western songsmith since Ian Tyson." Award winning Western author Johnny D. Boggs has this to say "Jon Chandler is part Wallace Stegner, part Jack Schaefer. He’s part Bruce Springsteen, and part Rambling Jack Elliott. He’s part William F. Cody, and part Cole Younger. Yet he’s distinctively original, a poet laureate of the American West of past, present and future."

AUGUST 6, 2020 THE WRITER'S BLOCK
SHOW #269 A CONVERSATION WITH KATHLEEN M. RODGERS
Author KATHLEEN M. RODGERS returns to The Writer's Block to share the inspiration and back story behind this remarkable book, her fourth novel, THE FLYING CUTTERBUCKS.
Decades ago, Trudy, Georgia, and Aunt Star formed a code of silence to protect each other from an abusive man who terrorized their family. One act of solidarity long ago lives with them still. With the election of a president who brags about groping women without their consent, old wounds and deep secrets come alive again, forcing hard truths to be told and even harder truths to be left to the dead.
On the outskirts of Pardon, New Mexico, Trudy returns to her mother, Jewel, to navigate an old house filled with haunting mementos of her father who went missing in action over North Vietnam. As she helps her mother sift through the memories and finally lay her father to rest, Trudy will do her own soul searching to say goodbye to the dead, and find her way along with the other women in her family, and through the next election. The Writer's Block Radio Show airs on LA Talk Radio.
