CAMPFIRE CAFE FEATURED GUEST - K.R. WOOD
K.R. WOOD'S interest in country music began over forty years ago. K.R., a native Texas singer, songwriter, historian and musician, plays 6 and 12 string acoustical guitars. Also known as Camp Cookie, K.R. has been travelling the great state of Texas bringing its history to life through songs and tales for almost 20 years. K.R. brings history to life through his performances and his authentic Chuck Wagon in Texas schools. His unique historical and hysterical performances by Camp Cookie’s Solo, Duo, or Trio encourage children to sing & dance along while learning the wonderful history of the Lone Star State! Stories of Texas are told through song and narration, from the events of the Texas Revolution to the cowboy’s life on the cattle trails. Stories are incorporated that tell of our Tejano and African American heroes and the ‘Fathers of Texas’ such as Davy Crockett, Stephen F. Austin, William B. Travis, just to name a few, as well as the contributions of the women and children. Through these stories, the focus is on instilling good values in our youth and teaching them of the sacrifices that helped make Texas what it is today. He was honored to be a part of the Education in Action Historical Educational Program for 10 years.
K.R.’s latest project is a multiple award winning CD called “Songs and Tales of the Old Chisholm Trail”. The music of the two-disc CD consists of 32 songs, which includes traditional songs from the era, three original songs by K.R. Wood. Artists include Texas singer/songwriters K.R. Wood, Michael Martin Murphey, Gary P. Nunn, Ray Benson, Red Steagall, Don Edwards, Bob Livingston, Doug Moreland, Augie Meyers, T. Gozney Thornton, Kimmie Rhodes, Mikki Daniel as well as many amazing Texas musicians. The last song on the CD is “This is the Last Cowboy Song," the perfect selection to end the CD!
K.R. "Cookie" Wood joins hosts Gary Holt and Bobbi Jean Bell on Campfire Cafe.
Airs live every Thursday on Equestrian Legacy Radio beginning at 10:00am (PST), 11:00am (MT), 12:00pm (CST), 1:00pm (EST).

As a DJ and radio host, I'm blessed to receive music in both CD and MP3 forms on a regular basis. Once again, we enjoy newly received music.
We begin our excursion going "East to Go West" into "The Desert In Bloom" and discover "The Drifter," a "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man," and a "Bride of the Brazos." Falling into "The Arms of My Love" we wonder "Who Used To Live Here" under "California Skies." We put our "Tail To The Wind," pick a "Red Rose For A Stranger," and place it along with many others in a "Room Full of Roses." I had a birthday this week and now start my sentences with "The Older I Get" and "Easy Come Easy Go." There's a "Knock Knock" at the door, open it and accept an invitation for "The Ride." Back at the OutWest Ranch House we "God Bless The Mighty Pickle." Four Ways to Listen:

Days are warm yet cool nights and chilly mornings remind us FALL IS COMIN'. Fireplace lit, Pumpkin Spice is back and there's an autumn wreath on the front door. BLANKETS are calling me! What's your routine to "Greet The Day?" Sitting on the patio with my daily read, watching the birds at the feeders, hot beverage at my side, and a cozy blanket across my lap that's my "Good Morning World" routine!
With your comfort in mind, I've selected a few customers' favorites from OutWest Shop's HERO FOR HOME COLLECTION! During the month of September 2020 when you make a purchase of any of these blankets, 20% is donated to support low power, community, non-profit radio station - KUPR - home of the OutWest Hour Radio Show. New blanket styles are added to this collection regularly. Softer and warmer than fleece, these unique blankets are made from an innovative fabric called Microplush. Double sided, machine washable and dryable, softer with each washing. Our vendor partner has everything in stock now - but winter's coming!
